Are Blundstone boots good for winter?
Thursday, November 20th, 2008Snow in Toronto! Sure it won’t stick around this time, but it’s here. Last night it fell in that perfectly quiet, giant flake kind of way that signals that winter is here. It’s always a good time at Australian Boot Company at the start of the winter season. Our friends and customers are pulling their boots out of the closet, and some are thinking, “This just might be the year I retire the old Blundstones and go down to Australian Boot Company and pick up a new pair.”
For those of you who are contemplating Blundstones for winter, we say ‘Absolutely!”. Blundstones are treated to be as water-repellent as leather can be. With an injection molded sole construction (for no leaks where the sole meets the leather), treated leather (for maximum water-repellency), and a sole that’s got great traction, Blundstones are a great urban winter boot.
Are Blundstone boots insulated? No, they are not, but because of the roomy, comfortable fit, your body heats up the space around your foot. Combined with a good wool sock, like Icebreaker’s Hiker Lite, your feet are comfortable for all but the coldest days of winter.
