Air Canada Enroute

Blundstone boots. They slip on and off like a dream when going through security and they are so well cushioned and light that your feet never get fatigued. And they are versatile enough to be worn while lounging in the lobby of the George V in Paris or wandering through the foothills of the Himalayas.

CBC News – “Snow Day”

“This doesn’t seem that bad to me,” Diane Klute told CBC News. With school cancelled in most GTA school districts, her kids were able to stay home and watch a movie. “I looked out the window and was kind of shocked that school was cancelled.”

Original predictions called for as much as 30 centimetres in some parts of southern Ontario, but Environment Canada reported that most parts of the GTA received only about 15 centimetres of snow by Wednesday afternoon. The snow tapered off by noon and resumed later in the afternoon but Toronto is expected to get no more than a few centimetres overnight on Wednesday.

Gracious Good Blog

Even though I’m a 400-year-old lady, I still get a little saddened when I see the first Back To School window display. At the same time, I’ve become a little bored of my summer shoes and have been thinking of buying a pair of Blundstones. So this display at The Australian Boot Company has got me all conflicted like.

The Rigger is an ideal boot for active lifestyles such as those involving motorcycling and riding. At the season’s upcoming red carpet award ceremonies, the Golden Globes, for instance, Ray Civello, president of Aveda Canada, predicts stars will show off a wider variety of styles than ever before with “shapes that are made to look like shorter hair in the form of an updo” or interesting kinds of bob updos “where there’s structure within hair.” He thinks that instead of iron curtains of hair or severe buns, shapes and texture will be “a bit more defined.”

Boot up this Winter – Toronto Sun

Stepping out in the cold just got a whole lot more stylish in revamped winter boots that combine utilitarian benefits with glammed-up accents.

Variations on chalet-themed boots replete with shearling and fur marched down the runways at Chanel, Isabel Toledo, Burberry, Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo and Lacoste.

“Winter boots include ski and alpine-inspired styles that feature padding, quilting and fur linings and that go easily from the slopes to the city with urban edge,” says Jaye Campbell, a spokesperson for Lacoste.

Although designers such as Chanel are showing “fantasy fur” boots covered completely in faux fur, more modest variations may be best suited to our Canadian climate.

Steel-toed boots keep your feet safe, but can they do it without pinching, binding or producing blisters?

People ask me all the time, “Where can I learn how to use tools?”

I always tell them the same thing, because it’s free and it’s really cool: volunteer for a Habitat for Humanity build. They’ll teach you everything you need to know about power tools, framing, drywalling, siding and finishing while you practice on an actual house.

And when that hand-built house is finished, it will be happily inhabited by a Habitat family who will pay an interest-free mortgage for 25 years. And all of that money goes into buying more land and building supplies to create even more Habitat homes. It’s a rewarding cycle and everyone wins.

Reno & Decor

These boots will take you where you need to go, from work to the garden to the bank and back. This May, I received my first pair of Blundstone “Rigger” boots. The waterproofed gift from heaven treated me very well during that month’s constant downpour of rain. There aren’t many boots or shoes on the market that are as waterproof and as comfortable as Blundstones.

I thought I’d use the boots mainly for gardening and for rainy days. That all changed during the first few days I had them on my feet. I barely took them off! Trip to the bank? Blundstones. Grocery shopping? Blundstones.  Check the mail? Blundstones. The “Riggers” became my go-to shoes that I could slip on and know that I’d be comfortable.
